This is a double-loop route combined in one downloadable file. You may ride each part on separate days or all together to get the most from your time in this magnificent area.

Description

The first half (39km, 724m) of the route starts in a descent and fairly flat profile all the way to the Abbey of San Galgano, followed by a gradual long (8km) climb to Chiusdino before the road starts to undulate for the rest of the ride back to Montieri. Gradients average between 4-16%. The second loop (70.5km, 1,324m) of this route ventures further afield to Radicondoli, and through the tranquil terrain of Anqua to Castelnuovo di Val. Di Cecina where the harder work begins. The Colline Metalifere provide lots of resistance, albeit with some pauses for breath on the way back to Montieri for a relaxing dip in the pool at Hotel Prategiano. Gradients average between 6-15%.
