Description

This self-guided ride from Radda gives you a strong taste of the Chianti hills, vinyards and strade bianche without venturing too deep into Tuscany. You get to enjoy some fun strade bianche on the way to Gaiole-in-Chianti, the home of L’Eroica, and a chance to absorb the ciclo-turismo d’epoca. From there you weave around and over a few majestic hills with fabulous views of Chianti. This is also a chance to stop at some of the Chianti wineries recommended in the route package details, with some great lunch stops to choose from su strada. There are some long sections of strade bianche with climbs especially for those Eroica gravel road addicts. You may not want to sample too much of the good stuff as there is a little bit of climbing to do so take your time. The option of riding the gravel loop around Volpaia is recommended for committed white road fanatics, but can be a little coarse for a climb. Be sure to stop for a bicchiere di Chianti Classico Volpaia or two before the sun sets over Radda. Buon giro!
