Description

This double loop ride from Monticchiello di Pienza takes you onto the lower slopes of Monte Amiata (948m, 4-16% average gradient) where you climb up through Campiglia d’Orcia. Then you are treated to a spectacular long descent with views of on the valley back towards historical Pienza for a fantastic lunch in the medieval backstreets of this walled hill-top city, or the start of the second part of this loop. The peaceful roads take you towards Montisi and Trequanda with some smooth descents (and another optional lunch stop), highlighting the magnificent diversity of terrain the Val d’Orcia region has to offer, before returning to the very comfortable Podere Rigopesci.
